About Lyrics ~ I usually write the lyrics independently from the music (although this is not always the case). I feel that the writings should be able to exist without the context of music. For this reason, some of the pieces may never become songs. They're not meant to be clever or impressive. They're just a collection of my thoughts.

About Midi Files ~ These were transferred from C-Lab Notator (Atari ST) to PC (ie they're music only, no vocals or guitar solos, although I've put in some guitar tracks as guides). They were mixed using a Sound Blaster Live card. The instruments may not be properly audible with other sound cards (That's the problem with General Midi but it's better than nothing, I guess).

Instrumentals

Jambox • [1988~1990] ~ Midi file
This song basically has multiple motifs and I've blended them like a "dance mix". Also, this song's got some wild drum fills too.

Harvest Song • [1988~1990] ~ Midi file
Imagine an ethnic african tribe jumping up and down celebrating the harvest. I have no idea why I think of this everytime I play this song. Another "dance mix" type structure.

Long Distance Runner • [1988~1990] ~ Midi file
Sometimes when you're just messing around with your favourite synth, you get lucky and stumble over a good riff. It's sort of african sounding. Reminds me of their amazing long-distance runners.

On The Horizon • [1988~1990] ~ Midi file
During my "gamelan experiment" phase, I came up with this one which sounds siamese (thai). I also found that shortening the motif into other time-signatures sounded very interesting.

Into The Wind • [1988~1990] ~ Midi file
If you've heard "Music For 18 Musicians" [Steve Reich], you'll appreciate this tune. I reckon it's better than the version done by Tangerine Dream for the movie "Risky Business"... but that's my opinion, isn't it?

After The Rain • [1988~1990] ~ Midi file
A gamelan experiment : I took a few motifs from various traditional malaysian gamelan tunes and married them together to make this tune. Malaysian gamelan uses 4/4 time but motifs are in 12 bars... interesting, huh?
